Scope and content
This collection documents the computer development activities of Micro Computer Machines, Inc. (commonly abbreviated as MCM). MCM was a Canadian company which developed and released a series of early microprocessor-based computers between 1971 and 1980. It also contains the personal papers and correspondence of MCM founder Mers Kutt, audio interviews with past MCM employees, and a significant collection of historical software. Textual materials consist of corporate and administrative documents, memos, board meetings, diaries, development notes, and advertisements, as well as hardware schematics, printed computer code. Additional materials include photographs and digital audio files, magnetic storage on cassette tape and floppy disc, and artifacts, including the MCM computer systems themselves.

The collection is open to research use, with exception of the material in the Mers Kutt papers series, which requires prior contact and permission from the curator.

The collection is available for use and reproduction for research purposes, but the researcher is responsible for following copyright law.
Additional software-related restrictions: there is no known remaining copyright protection on MCM’s intellectual assets due to the company’s dissolution. Generally, the first-party MCM software and the MCM/APL programming language itself are available to use and reuse for research. However, some of the third-party software could still fall under copyright, and may be restricted based on the judgement of the curator.
